Reviewing Photo Pairs

2 min read

Step 3: Review and Pair Photos

After uploading your photos, SchoolMorph automatically matches baby photos to current photos based on filenames. This step lets you review those matches, fix any mistakes, and manually pair any photos that were not matched.

How Auto-Matching Works

SchoolMorph compares filenames across your two sets of uploads. For example, if you uploaded john_smith.jpg as a baby photo and john_smith.png as a current photo, they will be automatically paired together. The file extension does not need to match -- only the name portion matters.

Reviewing Matched Pairs

Each matched pair is displayed as a card showing:

  • The baby photo on the left
  • An arrow in the middle
  • The current photo on the right
  • The student name (derived from the filename)

Look through each pair to confirm the correct baby photo is matched with the correct current photo.

  • Edit the student name by clicking on it. This name will appear in the final video if you enable name labels.
  • Unmatch a pair if the wrong photos were linked together. Both photos will return to the unmatched pool.

Manually Pairing Unmatched Photos

If any photos were not auto-matched (due to different filenames or naming inconsistencies), they will appear in an unmatched photos section.

  1. Click on a baby photo from the unmatched list.
  2. Click on the corresponding current photo to create a pair.
  3. The system will generate a student name from the filename. You can edit this if needed.

Things to Know

  • Every student needs exactly two photos (one baby, one current) to generate a morph.
  • Unmatched photos will not appear in the final video. Make sure all students are paired before proceeding.
  • You can return to this step at any time before generating the video to adjust pairings.
