Is it safe to upload student photos? Yes.
SchoolMorph is built with student safeguarding as a priority. Every photo is stored in private, encrypted storage in Australia, accessed only through time-limited signed URLs, and automatically deleted after 30 days. No student photo is ever used for AI training or analytics. Here is exactly how we protect your students' data.
Private, encrypted storage
Every photo you upload to SchoolMorph is stored in a private, encrypted storage bucket. Photos are never publicly accessible. When your browser needs to display a photo, it uses a time-limited signed URL that expires after a few minutes. This means even if someone intercepted the link, it would stop working almost immediately.
Automatic deletion after 30 days
Once your video has been generated, all uploaded photos and generated video files are automatically deleted after 30 days. You can also request immediate deletion at any time by emailing us. SchoolMorph does not retain student photos beyond what is needed to deliver your video.
Facial geometry is processed locally — nothing leaves our servers
Generating a morph requires detecting precise facial landmarks on each photo — the positions of eyes, nose, jaw, and other features — so the two images can be aligned and blended. SchoolMorph uses MediaPipe, a facial geometry library developed by Google, to do this. It detects 478 landmark points per face. Under Australian and UK/EU privacy law, this is classified as biometric data processing because it extracts characteristics from a facial image. Two things are important to understand: MediaPipe runs entirely on SchoolMorph’s own servers in Australia — no photo or facial data is ever sent to Google or any third party. And the landmark geometry is transient: it is computed, used immediately to create the morph, and then discarded. It is not stored in our database, not linked to any student record, and not used for any purpose other than generating your video.
No photos used for AI training or analytics
Your students’ photos are used for one purpose only: generating your morph video. SchoolMorph does not use them for training AI models, running analytics, building datasets, or any other purpose. This is a firm commitment, not a policy that might change.
Data stored in Australia
All photo data is stored on servers located in Australia. We chose Australian infrastructure to keep student data within the jurisdiction that most of our schools operate in, meeting the safeguarding expectations of Australian and New Zealand education departments.
Show this page to parents
If parents have questions about how their child's photos are handled, feel free to share this page with them directly. We wrote it in plain language so that anyone can understand exactly what happens to every photo.
Request data deletion
If you need photos deleted before the 30-day automatic deletion period, email us at schoolmorphing@gmail.com and we will process your request within one business day.
