Question 1

What is a leavers video morph?

Accepted Answer

A leavers video morph is a short film shown at Year 12 graduation and valedictory ceremonies where each student’s baby photo smoothly transitions into their current school portrait. It is one of the most emotional moments of any leavers’ ceremony. Traditionally, teachers created these morph videos manually using software like FantaMorph, which could take 25+ hours of work. SchoolMorph automates the entire process, producing a ceremony-ready MP4 video from uploaded photos. And even if your school has been doing something simpler (projecting a slideshow of baby photos alongside current portraits), you’ll know how time-consuming it is to chase down 150 families for photos, resize and rename them, and pull a slideshow together. SchoolMorph handles all of that too, with the added bonus that your photos actually morph.

Question 2

How long does it take to make a Year 12 morph video?

Accepted Answer

Your active effort is around 10–15 minutes: uploading your class list or year group, reviewing the pairings, and clicking generate. You can then close the tab and get on with your day — SchoolMorph emails you when the video is ready to download. For most schools, the finished video is ready to download within 24 hours, though during busy periods like end-of-year ceremony season it can take a little longer.

Question 3

When should I set my final hand-in deadline?

Accepted Answer

For the best experience, set your final hand-in deadline at least 7 days before your ceremony. This gives families time to submit and gives us time to make sure everything is perfect before the big night. If you're working with less time than that, we'll still process your video, but we can't guarantee delivery or take responsibility for any issues that arise close to your ceremony date.

Question 4

How do I create a baby to adult morph video for a school ceremony?

Accepted Answer

Upload your student list with parent emails. You can include a second email per child for separated families. SchoolMorph sends each parent a unique upload link for whichever photos your school needs (a younger photo, a current photo, or both, not every school uses both). Automatic reminders chase anyone who has not uploaded. Once photos are in, SchoolMorph matches each pair, you review on screen, fix any mismatches with one click, then hit generate. Alternatively, if you already have all photos, you can upload two folders directly.

Question 5

Is it safe to upload student photos online?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All photos are stored in Sydney, Australia, on infrastructure certified to SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001. They never leave the country. Each photo is accessed only via time-limited signed URLs that expire within minutes. Photos are automatically deleted 30 days after your ceremony. We will never sell them, train AI on them, or use them to advertise, and you can request immediate deletion at any time.

Question 6

What’s the best software for school leavers videos?

Accepted Answer

SchoolMorph is purpose-built for school leavers morph videos. Unlike general tools such as FantaMorph or After Effects, SchoolMorph automates the photo matching, morphing, and video assembly in one step. There is nothing to install — it runs entirely in your web browser. For a Year 12 coordinator who is not a video editor, it is the fastest and simplest option available.

Question 7

How much does a morph video cost for a school?

Accepted Answer

SchoolMorph has two tiers, both priced in AUD. Own It ($2.50 AUD per student): you pay today, keep the ceremony video, and each student's individual morph is available for their parents to download via a QR code. Fundraise It ($1.50 AUD per student): you pay the entry fee today, then parent keepsake sales pay it back first, then split 50/50 with your school. It can end up costing your school nothing with the Fundraise It model, and keepsakes include options like friendship-group clips and shareable year-group videos when parents upload their own photos and consent. Teachers and staff are free when you have 50+ students; below 50 they are billed at the same per-student rate. Billing is capped at 250 students, bigger cohorts pay the same as a 250-student school. Both tiers include automated photo collection, reminders, and a ceremony-ready video.

Question 8

Can I make a morph video without FantaMorph?

Accepted Answer

Yes. SchoolMorph is a browser-based alternative to FantaMorph that requires no software installation and no manual keypoint placement. FantaMorph requires you to place control points on every face individually — for 150 students, that can take 3–4 full days. With SchoolMorph, upload a class list or year group, parents submit their photos, and we email you when your finished ceremony video is ready.

Question 9

What photo format works best for face morphing?

Accepted Answer

SchoolMorph accepts JPG, PNG, and HEIC files. Digital photos: any smartphone or digital camera from the last 15 years should be fine — at least 500 pixels wide and 100KB in file size. Printed photos: lay it flat in good natural light and photograph it with your phone — no scanner needed. The one to watch for: very old prints scanned at very low resolution, or very old digital photos from early cameras — these often come in under 100KB and will appear pixelated.

Question 10

What if the automatic photo matching gets it wrong?

Accepted Answer

SchoolMorph lays out every younger-photo-to-portrait pairing on screen for you to review. If any match looks wrong, click the photo and swap it with one click. Most schools find the automatic matching gets it right first time, but fixing a mistake is quick and simple. You can also re-upload a different photo for any student if needed.

Question 11

Can I redo one student’s morph without redoing the whole video?

Accepted Answer

Yes. SchoolMorph lets you swap a photo and regenerate just that student’s segment. You do not need to redo the entire video from scratch, which saves significant time if a parent sends a better younger photo after you have already generated the video.

Question 12

Do I need to install any software?

Accepted Answer

No. SchoolMorph works entirely in your web browser. There is nothing to download, install, or update. If you can use email and attach a photo, you have all the technical skills you need. It works on any modern browser on Mac, Windows, or Chromebook.

Question 13

What do I get at the end?

Accepted Answer

SchoolMorph produces a single MP4 video file containing every student’s morph in sequence, ready to play at your leavers’ ceremony. The video works on any laptop, projector, or screen — just plug in and press play. No special software or codecs required.

Question 14

Can I use SchoolMorph for kindergarten or primary school?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! SchoolMorph works beautifully for any age group. Kindergarten and primary school farewell videos are some of our most popular — there’s nothing quite like seeing a tiny prep photo morph into a confident Year 6 student. The process is exactly the same: upload younger or early photos alongside current portraits, and we’ll create the morph video for your ceremony.

Question 15

Does SchoolMorph work for universities?

Accepted Answer

Yes! University faculties, student societies, and events teams use SchoolMorph to create morph videos for graduation ceremonies. A childhood or younger photo morphing into a graduation portrait makes for a powerful moment — showing the full journey from early life to graduation day. It works for individual departments, entire cohorts, or even staff farewell events.

Question 16

What year groups can use SchoolMorph?

Accepted Answer

SchoolMorph works for every education level — from preschool and kindergarten graduations, through primary school (Year 6 farewells), secondary school (Year 12 leavers ceremonies and valedictories), all the way to university graduation ceremonies. If you have a ‘before’ photo and a ‘current’ photo, we can morph them.

Question 17

Can I upload school photographer photos in bulk?

Accepted Answer

Yes! If your school has professionally-taken Year 12 portraits, choose “Coordinator uploads current photos” when creating a project. Drop an entire folder of photos and SchoolMorph will read each filename (e.g. smith_alice.jpg) to identify students automatically. You then send parents a link to upload only their child’s younger photo. Parents will see the current school portrait for reference.

Question 18

Can students upload their own photos?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Instead of uploading all photos yourself, you can paste a student list (name + parent email) and SchoolMorph will send each parent a unique upload link. You can include a second parent email per child for separated families — both receive the same link. Parents upload whichever photos your school needs from any device — no account needed. You get a tracking dashboard to see who has uploaded and send reminders to anyone who hasn’t.

Question 19

What if a student doesn’t submit their photos?

Accepted Answer

Your tracking dashboard shows exactly who has and hasn’t uploaded. You can send reminder emails to all incomplete students with one click, or copy their individual upload link to share via Google Classroom, Teams, or WhatsApp. You can also set a submission deadline so students know when photos are due.

Question 20

Do students need a SchoolMorph account?

Accepted Answer

No. Students receive a unique upload link that gives them direct access to a simple, mobile-friendly upload page. No sign-up, no login, no app to install. They just open the link, choose their photos, and they’re done in under a minute.

Question 21

Can I show student names in the video?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Enable Name Cards in the project settings to display each student’s name on a brief slide before their morph plays. You can choose first name only, full name, or set custom text per student (like a nickname or award). Name cards use the same styling as your title card by default.

Question 22

Can I mix teacher uploads and student uploads?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If some students can’t submit their own photos, you can upload on their behalf from the tracking dashboard. You can also choose to have students upload only their younger photo while you upload the current school portraits, or vice versa.
